Building Control:
Approval from Building Control is required for almost all construction projects. Every project you do that needs design, construction and alterations need top meet a minimum standard outlined in the Building Regulations. The regulations are developed by the UK government and approved by Parliament. You may find your answer on Gov.uk.
Building Control approval is separate from planning permission - depending on your project you may require both.
